Keeping Hope 2024

Volusia Recovery Alliance/VRA is in full swing preparing for our 6th Annual Keeping Hope: Overdose Awareness and Remembrance Day event which will be Saturday, August 24th at the Lakeside Community Center in Port Orange.

We greatly appreciate your support of our event last year, which helped many in our recovery community!

As a reminder, the purpose of our event is to show people that they are not alone, they don’t need to hide, and they can make a difference. The focus is on awareness, remembrance and providing a safe space for that to happen. Our targeted audience is survivors, people seeking recovery, those in recovery and concerned community.

Our event is in honor of International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) which is a global event held on August 31st each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of drug-related death. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of a drug overdose.

We have grown exponentially in the past year, helping to save many more lives with our Overdose Recognition and Response Narcan training/handout events, the Fathers Inspiring Recovery and Evolution (F.I.R.E.) Support Group, going into the women’s jail to support women transitioning out via our Freedom To Change Group, A Window Between Worlds Alternative to Art Therapy for Trauma, the Building First Responder Resilience (BFRR) Program to assist our First responders in and looking for life navigation and/or recovery and our ITC-Invitation to Change Family Group based in science and kindness to name just a few.
